Color of the Year 2015

Just in case you were wondering, Marsala is apparently a wine made in Sicily…and also THE COLOR OF THE YEAR for 2015 as announced by Pantone Color Institute. Departing from the typically vibrant hues Pantone has picked in the past (Tangerine – 2012, Emerald – 2013, Radiant Orchid – 2014) this color is surprisingly a muted tone. It’s neither burgundy, maroon, or brown and for some reason holds a level of regal sophistication. A lot of people have been critical saying it looks like dried blood or a questionable residue at a frat house. Personally I didn’t even think of that. I thought of warm spices. Others have also been calling it boring. I happen to think it's a little sexy, but to each their own. I think what I like MOST about this color choice is it’s universally flattering on EVERYONE. Men, women, dark, light, it doesn’t matter. Whether we are talking beauty or fashion, this is going to be effortlessly worn.

Sephora has already given a sneak peak of their upcoming Sephora +Pantone Universe collection…I am beyond excited. Actually, more than I have been since 2012 for Tangerine. If this picture is any indication of what products will be released, I will be buying everything. (I’m sorry, wallet)

You know me, I’m not gung ho about following trends, but I always anticipate the announcement of the color of the year. Really, color is another medium you can use in your style and I appreciate the indication of what will be available to me in the coming months in fashion, beauty, and home décor! So love it or hate it you will be seeing a lot of this in 2015.

Think it's BLEH?? Give it a try! It may surprise you!
