7 Ways to Avoid Style Mishaps This Thanksgiving

Turkey Day will be upon us before we know it!  Here are some tips I have to help prevent any of those style mishaps during your Thanksgiving fam-jams.

1. Mani AND PEDI
We, Canucks, ALWAYS take our shoes off when we enter someone’s home.  Beware of those crusty feet by keeping those tootsies fresh.  You get bonus points if it coordinates with your mani!

2. Loosen Up
Remember to wear outfits that give room for that food baby you're about to conceive.  You want something looser or flowy in fit but not frumpy.  Anything constricting like belts that cinch your waist will prove to be super uncomfortable once you realize you can't get enough of Nana's pastries.

3. Neutral Lip
Thanksgiving is about 3 things: Family, being grateful, & EATING.  Ladies, you do not want a high maintenance lip when you will be constantly (& I DO mean CONSTANTLY) stuffing your face!  Keep it neutral with a natural colored lipstick or a gloss or even just some balm.

4. Don’t Wear White
No this has nothing to do with that stupid “Labour Day Rule.”  I’m just saying if you’re anything like me, the day I decided to wear white is the day I spill something on myself. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.  Stick to something that can camouflage a stain, just in case.  Either that or wear a bib.

5. Smell Good
You will be seeing family and friends that you probably haven’t seen in a while.  That warrants hugs and kisses all around.  Make sure your odour isn’t offensive, and that includes too much cologne/perfume!!  And make sure you bring some gum/mints.  You never know what delicious garlic-y foods you will consume.  & it's probably a good idea to keep those smelly sneakers at home.

6. Dress in Layers
If your sweating threshold is lower than you would like, I would suggest to try dressing in light layers so you can peel them off with your rising body temperature.  It can get hot in the house or if you are just nervous being around your new girlfriend’s family, it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

7. Be Gracious
Style is not just about what you look like, it is also about how you carry yourself.  Be a good guest and bring something nice for the party/host.  Graciousness goes well with every outfit!
