Cozy Knits for the Office

I am the one in the office who is constantly wrapped up under a shawl or throw at their desk. I keep reminding my coworkers that I come from a line of Asian tropical islanders so genetically, I cannot handle the cold. But surely, there must be a better way to cope than hiding under a blanket. My only solution is throwing on some CHUNKY THICK ASS SWEATERS lingering in my closet. Now these cozy items are better associated with cuddling and chugging hot chocolate by an open fire, NOT your typical office wear. But I mean, when has that stopped me before?! So this post goes out to all the chilly chicas out there working in an icebox office! Here are some ways I make cozy knits office ready.

Pencil Skirts

Nothing gets more serious than a pencil skirt. This straight cut balances out the volume of the sweater. Cropped sweaters look great with this. If you want to imitate the fashion it-girls, try tucking in one side of a longer sweater to give a relaxed and forward vibe.

 Slim Trousers & Smart Shoes

You can’t really go wrong with this look. You achieve the same silhouette as you would with your weekend leggings and tall boots. Except this version makes you look less like cuddling by the fire and more like you're about to get shit done. Clean and minimalistic elements give you that sharp, professional edge which balances out the coziness of your sweater.

Loose Trousers

If you are opting for loose trousers, make sure you keep in mind the silhouette of your heavy sweater. Something long and boxy inches you closer to sloppy territory. Always think about proportions. Loose trousers work well with modestly cropped hemlines. If you want to extend that longer, remember to keep the fit closer to the body.

Side Slits

I’m still not over the side slits. I find it helps with the proportions of you look plus it adds a trendy element in a subtle way. Straight leg or slim trousers look great with these. Remember showing skin in the office is not cute. If the slits go too high, always go with a cami underneath.

With a Belt
An easy fix to your chunky sweaters is defining a waist with a belt. You can do this with either a pullover or a cardigan over a skirt, dress or pants. It cleans up the look by giving it some shape.

I hope this inspires you to try something new at the office. You're job may be BLAH, but it doesn't mean you have to look like it. You can totally look professional but feel cozy all at once. Hang in there peeps! The winter has only begun!
