Trendy Pieces: Spring 2015

Finally! Spring is here! well...sort of. I was done with winter once Christmas was over. I am looking forward to the light and easy outfits, fresh colors, and NO SOCKS! Being the frugal person I am, you know I’m not about buying new outfits season-to-season. You don’t need to. If you want to be trendy and fashionable all you have to do is purchase the trend that speaks to you. OR if you are lucky, revive vintage pieces. Here are the things I will be throwing into circulation this spring.

Skirts with a split – it is the perfect marriage of sass and class, the embodiment of sexy sophistication. It’s a suggestive peak without compromising your dignity. Plus, the various styles are modernized by the cool geometric shapes.
(Left to Righ) Chloe, Reiss, Asos

Matchy-matchy sets – I just can’t get enough of this! You can find sets you could wear to the beach or to a party. It comes in all forms from the classic suit to a bandeau and a maxi or crop top and shorts. The combinations are endless.

Wide leg pants – How many times can we revive the 70’s? Obviously not enough! Wide leg pants are making a comeback again! So if you are still hanging on to yours, this is the best time to pull ‘em out!
(Left to Right) Lefties, Forever 21, Zara

Marsala lipstick – have we already forgotten about the color of the year? This warm, earthy color is not just for cooler months, it totally works for that golden summer glow! It is beautiful on a wide range of skin tones and ages. I love it because it can be both a pop of color or a downplayed neutral.
(Left to Right) Kat Von D Studded Kiss Lipstick - Cathedral, Maybelline Color Sensational Matte Lipstick - Touch of Spice, Sephora + Pantone Universe Lipstick - Marsala

Flats/sneakers – FINALLY! Like every girl, I like wearing my gorgeous heels and wedges. But unfortunately I LOVE my sneakers more! Though I’ve never really stopped wearing them, this trend has really inspired me to style them in ways I probably wouldn’t have in the past. The menswear flats is another style I will definitely be taking advantage of!
(Top to Bottom) Aldo, Steve Madden, Whistles

Gingham – I have always called this “picnic-table plaid” for obvious reasons. But recently I’ve been seeing this pattern re-imagined into sheer tops, structured skirts, and crisp button ups. It is so playful while still being age appropriate.
(Top Left to Right) J. Crew, Nasty Gal
(Bottom Left to Right) Forever 21, Nasty Gal

Boho – the bohemian feel returns every summer with different pieces at center stage. I think this year I’m leaning towards printed fringe kimonos and lace/crochet crop tops. Just in time with H&M releasing their H&M <3 Coachella collection. LOVE.

Sheer details – Sheer panels are so me! I love the contrast of edginess with some more traditional silhouettes or fabric. Like the skirt spit, you’re showing just a little bit without giving too much away.
(Left to Right) Asos, Forever 21, Nina Ricci

Doesn't this get you amp'd for spring?! I'm ready to pack up my knits and parkas. This brutally cold winter needs to make ways to warmer days and breezier outfits. C'mon Spring! We're ready for you!

Good luck & play fearlessly!!
