#wearehere

As I was cruising through Instagram, scrolling down pictures of barely covered bodies, duck faces, nicely plated food, & cute puppies, when I came across a picture from one of my favorite artist, Alicia Keys.  As I read her post I had a supercharged surge of inspiration and really started to question, WHY AM I HERE?  Seeking the purpose of life is something that we all come to (or at least question) at some point in our lives.

A day can’t pass without turning on the news and hearing about tragedy caused by people.  Many times I feel lost, like I’m losing a battle.  As if every good I have done or can ever do will always be overshadowed by war, poverty, violence…  I am a young woman with no power or status.  How can I possibly stop wars, end poverty, and prevent violence?!

This WE ARE HERE campaign is about asking yourself "what am I here for?"  What gift do we have to give to the world? It is a reminder that no good deed is too small.  Our collective effort can change the course of humanity. It can be as small as having empathy.  To be open enough to see things in another person’s perspective can already resolve conflicts.  The weight of our actions is not determined by the amount of effort we exert, rather it is measured by the impact it makes.

WE can make the world kinder and more loving.  WE can spread the warm and fuzzies through our behavior and the way we interact with people.  WE can make a difference! STOP thinking about how your deeds can't change anything and start thinking how they CAN.  I know it sounds like cotton candy and rainbows but perhaps the solution to the world’s problems is that simple.  Perhaps all we really needed is ordinary people to start contributing positively to their communities.

HE blessed all of us with different talents and gifts.  It is up to us how we choose to use it.  I choose to use my strengths to do good through serving humanity the way HE intended.
