Style Tips for the Engaged

GAH! We just passed the 100-day mark on our wedding countdown! Since getting engaged I have realized I am the center of attention, which makes me feel slightly awkward. I know the year leading up to the wedding will put me in the spotlight. Having said that, I have some style tips for the newly betrothed to ensure you will always look fly when all eyes are on you.

Nails Did 24/7
This next year you will be flashing that rock wherever you go so make sure your nails are on point! I’m not saying you have to be rockin a new or trendy mani every week. It could be as simple as making sure your nails are clean and neat. File them down to almost any shape. Except those flared tips...Leave ‘em in the 2000’s.

Presentable Hands
I have this problem of horribly dry hands during the winter. Like my nails, I have to make sure I am hand model ready. Which means I got to keep my hands clean, nourished, and moisturized. I actually have been using The Face Shop’s Papaya Peeling Gel to help smooth out the texture on my hands. I also use the Josie Maran Argan Infinity Intensive Creamy Oil to keep them moisturized.

Bright Smile
For the most part, you will be flashing a grin every time someone asks you about your engagement, your partner, your wedding, etc...so you have to make sure your pearly whites stay pearly white and you have nothing hanging out between your teeth. Aside from keeping floss and dental picks in my purse, I have been using Crest 3D White Brilliance 2-Step Toothpaste. As an avid black coffee drinker, I have never had much success with any whitening toothpaste except for this! It's totally worth the extra step in your routine!

Radiant Skin
Time to get the glow on! I don’t just mean highlighting the shit outta your face. You gotta get that “lit from within” look. Good thing the happiness over your upcoming nuptials helps with this effect. At this point you have probably a year to get your skin right before your big day! So THIS is a crucial time to really get on your skincare game right. Remember to lower your sugar intake and up your water consumption. This will also help with the overall health of your skin. You want to look radiant, not just during your engagement, but at your wedding as well.

Closet On Call
Make sure you have some cute outfits on hand. Not only will events will be coming up in honor of you, but you will also find yourself many social situations there is a high chance that the attention will get shifted to you during this exciting time in your life. Your outfits don’t have to be a new purchase. You probably already have some great pieces hiding in your closet. I always make sure I have some dope outfits ready ranging from sporty to dressy.

Grow Your Mane
I love going for short and daring hairstyles. Unfortunately, I have to suck up the need to hit the barber’s for a sweet fade. Having long hair by the time your wedding comes gives you more options for hairstyles. By the time your big day comes, and your realize that you do want it short you can cut it all off, or keep it long, or throw it in an updo, whatever you want! This is also an opportunity to get your hair back to it’s healthy state.

Tone Up
I don't mean get down to your desired size or shape! Take this time to tone up that bod to look a little more lifted no matter your body type. You can create that subtle definition without Photoshop! Along with the aesthetic results, will will be getting healthier as well (of course if done right.) Sounds like a win-win!

You will have a lot of attention this year whether it is wanted or not. So these style tips are intended to help you look your best so that whatever pictures will be taken of you will be timeless! Either way, enjoy your journey cuz this will be over before you know it.
