Winter Life Savers

The harsh, cold, dry weather has arrived! (well at least, here in Canada) These conditions always wreak havoc on my skin! I’m about to get graphic here, but I get dry, flaky and chapped skin and my eczema flares up and it’s just a disaster all around! I’m sharing my winter life savers if you are looking for things to protect or heal your dry skin.

ANDALOU NATURALS Argan + Mint Lip Remedy
Argan + Mint Lip Remedy
This is my FAVOURITE lip balm of all time. It claims to be "age-defying" promoting cell renewal. I am not sure how accurate that is but this is better than anything I have ever tried.  I really like the lip balms by Fresh, but we are talkin about $25 CAD for one tube! Too rich for my blood. This retails for an average of $12 CAD and I’ve been using it for about a year now and I have seen it work wonders. It has brought my lips back from a chapped, bleeding hell.

JOSIE MARAN Argan Infinity Intensive Creamy Oil
Argan Infinity Intensive Creamy Oil
This versatile product can be used in a TON of ways and since it’s in a cream to oil form, it is so much easier to handle an apply compared to her other oils. I love using this on my face and hair but in the winter my favourite way to use this is as a hand cream. My eczema blows up on my hands in the winter creating areas of the skin where it breaks. This helps heals my hands and restore it back to health. It absorbs well and keeps my hands moisturized, nourished, and comfortable for hours after application

FIRST AID BEAUTY Ultra Repair Cream
Ultra Repair Cream

I discovered this about a year and a half ago. Formulated specifically for sensitive skin, this has helped on all the dry patches on my face whether its from the cold or the sun. I have noticed this calms and soothes my skin especially after i put my face through abrasive treatments like peels or exfoliations. I also find this works well with inflammation caused by the cold weather.

VASELINE Intensive Rescue Extra Strength Lotion
Intensive Rescue Extra Strength Lotion
This is a great lotion I use for the rest of my body. It has really help soothe the irritation on my skin. My body hates the fall to winter transition.  It starts acting up once it starts getting cold. I apply this lotion after I shower and I have noticed less itch and flaking. The finish is not sticky or greasy. It absorbs quickly into the skin and keeps it supple.

ELF Studio Lip Exfoliator/LUSH Mint Julips Lip Scrub
Lip Exfoliator & Mint Julips Scrub
I like both of these equally for different reasons. I have been keeping the Elf lip exfoliator in my purse. It is in a lipstick tube making it travel friendly and easy to use on the go. It super hydrating and effectively conditions the lip. If your lips need MORE lovin' you need to try the Mint Julips. Similar to the Elf product, this uses sugar to exfoliate your lips. It comes in a jar so it's messier but you can control the amount of "scrub" on your lips allowing you to go less or more abrasive. I also enjoy the fresh feeling and taste it leaves on your lips and in your mouth.

These are my winter staples. Hope they work out for you!
