What To Wear: Thanksgiving 2014

Gratitude is something I practice everyday! But there is something else about Thanksgiving that I love.  Actually I know exactly what it is: THE FOOD.   All the delicious goodness in mass amounts are present and I am there to gobble gobble gobble it all up.  But with the food comes the get-togethers and parties.  So I have put together some outfit ideas you can wear to these events.  Remember to wear things that aren’t too form-fitting or constricting.  You NEED to make sure you have some space in your outfit to accommodate that food baby.

Outfit 1: Dress It Up
My usual Thanksgiving get-togethers are casual and at home.  But if you have to attend a less casual party, it requires a dressier getup.   Here I paired a ¾ sleeve shift dress (sans belt - taking advantage that mod is apparently back) with some high heeled booties. You can definitely top it off with a structured jacket or wear some tights for warmth. I kept the accessories limited so the details of this dress could be highlighted.  Like the lace cutouts at the neckline and shoulders as well as the buttons down the back.

Outfit 2: Country Gal
For more casual gatherings you can channel your inner cowgirl.  Instead of blue jeans, I went with the popular olive green jeggings and a denim button up.  The wedge cut out sandals gives it a more chic feel.  You can opt for western booties if you’re feelin’ REAL country but if that’s too much you can go with flats as well.  I layered a white studded denim moto jacket to give it some UMPH!

Outfit 3: Trendsetter
If you want to keep it casual but want to retain your glamazon status, you can try out something like this.  Leather accent leggings to add that edge but still have that cozy comfort.  I have a basic white tee underneath this red & black houndstooth wrap I bought maybe 4 years ago! I love these wraps/capes because it's exactly like wearing a blanket! A statement necklace is sure to add some glam.  & I can go with a high heeled boot with shearling cuff for a cozier feel or a black wedged bootie with gold detail for some class.

Outfit 4: Girl Next Door
I feel like the classic girl-next-door silhouette always involves the a-line cut.  Enter the circle skirt. I paired this leather version with a short-sleeve sweater and dainty accessories.  I decided to go with some dark gray over the knee socks and a wedged sneaker instead of a boot to keep it playful.  I left out a belt on purpose because I know I will totally regret that decision when I'm asking for another helping of stuffing.

Hope you got some inspiration for some tummy-friendly Thanksgiving outfits!  All the items I am wearing are things I found sitting in my closet.  I didn't buy anything new this season.  So dig around and see what you've already got!  Chances are, you already have the building blocks you need to create a modern trendy outfit that's 100% YOU.

Play fearlessly!
